01 — The Standard

What is diamond clarity?

Clarity refers to the presence, or absence, of internal characteristics known as inclusions, and external characteristics called blemishes — natural markings formed deep within the earth under intense heat and pressure.

Completely flawless diamonds are extremely rare. Most inclusions are so small they can't be seen with the naked eye, and they do nothing to diminish a diamond's beauty. Not every diamond is perfect — but every diamond is one of a kind.

Inclusions Internal characteristics — small crystals, feathers, or clouds formed within the stone during its growth.

Blemishes External characteristics — minor surface marks such as scratches or nicks, often a result of cutting and polishing.

02 — The Scale

The five clarity categories

01 FL / IF

Rarity at its finest. No visible inclusions even under 10x magnification.
IF diamonds may carry minuscule surface blemishes, detectable only under a microscope.
Fewer than 1% of diamonds meet this standard — an exceptional treasure.

02 VVS1 / VVS2

Inclusions are extremely difficult to detect under 10x magnification.
These diamonds offer a nearly flawless appearance.
Ideal for collectors or those seeking elite quality.

03 VS1 / VS2

Inclusions are minor and only visible under magnification.
Excellent balance between beauty and value.
Perfect for those who want purity without the premium price of VVS or FL.

04 SI1 / SI2

Inclusions are visible under 10x magnification, but generally invisible to the naked eye.
SI1 diamonds often appear eye-clean and offer exceptional value.
SI2 diamonds may show slight inclusions depending on location and cut.

05 I1 / I2 / I3

Inclusions are visible to the naked eye and may impact brilliance.
Despite imperfections, these diamonds can still shine, especially with expert setting and styling.
Best for clients seeking affordability with larger carat sizes.
